Shindigs Bar & Grill
Rob and Janet Carroll came to us with a very distinct vision—a restaurant that took no shortcuts, embraced the history of the original and iconic Winfield train depot, and was entirely unique. Owning a restaurant was a longtime dream of theirs; we helped them expand and renovate the existing depot with a state-of-the-art kitchen addition, restroom and stair tower addition, accessible entrance addition and elevated deck and patio. This is a great example of what can be done when a client knows what they want in the details and creates many items themselves, but need an architect to help with big-picture items such as layouts, code and accessibility, and the exterior “shell” structure. A few highlights include: in-service train tracks feet from your table, modified kegs as urinals, dividers from truck tailgates, railroad spike detailing, and an exterior of local stone and industrial, Corten steel to pull it all together.
